Edinburgh based architect practice Studio IMA approached me to design an internal sliding screen that separates two workspaces. The aim was to provide privacy and a focal point to their new office space in Edinburgh.
Using and adapting machine made textured glass, I created 4 individual panels that can be slid back and forth. With this work I wanted to explore the effects of dappled light on an interior architecture. Large areas of textured glass have been screen printed with a motif taken from a photograph of light passing through trees in summer, and fired in a kiln unitil they have turned golden yellow. These elements have been cut and assembled onto a sheet of toughened glass. The steel frame surrounding the glass has had discreet sound dampening seals added.
